BOOKS
Mysteries and fantasty are the staples of my existence. If I didn't have a book to read, I'd be in purgatory. I've been known to hit the all-night book vendor to pick up something when I ran out. My library is my favorite place in the world. I couldn't afford all the books my family read. Libraries rock. My favorite genres are mysteries and fantasy. I love Sue Grafton, Patricia Cornwell, John Sanford, Marion Zimmer Bradley and Anne McCaffrey. Those names don't even barely skim the surface of my favorite authors list. Books are good. They are your friends.
MOVIES
It's been so long that I've consistently gone to see movies. Excuse? Kids! 'Harry Potter', 'Pirates of the Caribbean' I absolutely adored, Sir Sean Connery's movies. Ditto Mel Gibson. Musicals such as 'My Fair Lady', 'Camelot', 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'.
HEROES
Our forces in here and abroad and their families, dedicated teachers, and all those people trying to make our world a better place. Ordinary people who perform amazing acts in the face of danger like those at the Minneapolis I-35 bridge disaster. My mother who gave me my love of music. My memories of her playing piano as I drifted off to sleep as a child are so special to me. My father who has always looked for the good in people and had patience galore. My kids who have tought me to laugh, view the world in a different way, and have impressed me with what wonderful, creative, interesting, caring people that they have become. Plus, they learned all my music and got me into theirs!
A grandmother since 9/20/07; mother of 1. a United States Marine, 2. a Graduate in Game Design, 3. an Undergrad planning on being a Modeler in Computer Animation, 4. a bartender/waitress/bouncer, and 5. and MIL of a Pediatric Medical Assistant. Also a University of Minnesota Extension Service Program Master Gardener, board member of a local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter, lover of music, and voracious reader of mystery and fantasy. Gardens to attract wildlife, runs gardening list serves,is a child support officer, a person who cares about the environment, someone who's learning about the Hmong culture, a person who seeks to make this world a better place than it was when she came here this lifetime.
